Do you want to write? Are you trying to write? Here's the secret ~
Stop wanting! Stop trying! Just write—what you don't know
Okay. I don't think of myself as a boastful person, but I honestly think James Navé and I have written the best book yet on how to write. And I honestly think our online course is the best course available on how to write. Why? Because we’re not focusing on your actual writing, but on how you write. We’re giving you tools and techniques to be curious rather than critical, fresh rather than self-conscious, energized rather than tentative and anxious. This is the beauty of writing what you don’t know.
But writing can be lonely, and it's easy to doubt yourself. So, here's the solution: equip yourself with a mentor, and find a group of people who also want to stop wanting and stop trying, and just write!
That's what worked for me: I had to get in the habit of just writing, before I could actually write something. I was lucky: Navé asked me to lead workshops with him, and I learned far more than I taught.
Want to get lucky? Starting on June 13, you can work through Write What You Don't Know with Navé as your guide. It's not often you find the man of your dreams, but please, let me present you with the man of your writing dreams. After 10 weeks, not only will you have a fat file of material for your existing or future writing project, but your faith in yourself will be turbocharged. You'll know what your strengths are and how to build on them. You'll know how to generate those original ideas and brilliant turns of phrase that you can't "think up" by force of will.
The course is on Zoom, and it's limited to 14 people. If you miss a session, you can make it up by watching the course video. Plus, Navé will be available to you during the week as you polish or edit or launch out from what you wrote in the session.
(He's really good at this. He's been leading Artist's Way courses online and in person for decades, and worked with Julia Cameron for years developing and leading Artist's Way Creativity Camps.)
And, if you want my professional editorial comments on your writing, you can have that too. For 6 people out of the 14, I will read one piece a week and give you notes. I've worked with three Booker Prize winners, two Nobel Prize winners, and Jane Goodall—now you can have me work with you.
So, if you want to write, if you've been trying to write, here's how to leap off the hamster wheel of wanting and trying. You'll be amazed at the transformation not just in your writing, but in your relationship to your writing. I promise!
